Tiramisu
Guys, take note. It is always worthwhile to have recipe in your back pocket that you can wow people with.
Ingredients
1 tub cold marscapone cheese ($2.99 at Trader Joe's)
2 eggs yolks
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 quart whipping cream ($2.39 at Trader Joe's)
3 packages Ladyfingers ($1.99 per box at Trader Joe's. I used 2 boxes. These are hard to find around the holidays. Trader Joe's was the only place I could find these)
11/2 cups espresso coffee (strong)
1 toss brandy to taste
1/2 bar shaved chocolate
8x12 casserole dish
Directions
I have to admit that I lied, I got all of the ingredients ready first, then it took 15 minutes. This is best done as a team, one person to lay down ladyfingers while the other whips the cream mixture. If you're doing this solo, you'll just have to be fast.
- Make the espresso coffee and add brandy to taste. I cool it down a little in the refrigerator so that I'm not dipping ladyfingers into hot coffee
- In a bowl, add whipping cream slowly and whip until stiff
- Fold in egg yolks, feed the egg whites to the cat (if you have a cat)
- Fold in the sugar and marscarpone cheese. Do not let this mixture stand too long or else the cream will start to fall
- Once the cream and coffee are done, take the ladyfingers, dunk each of them quickly in the espresso mix, then lay them on the bottom of the casserole dish, repeat until you have a full layer
- Place ladyfingers vertically around the casserole dish, dipping them in the coffee in the same manner as step 4
- Spread half of your cream on top of the first layer of ladyfingers
- Lay down another layer of ladyfingers and the remainder of the cream mixture
- Shave the candy bar on top of this last layer and chill for at least 1 hour
