Painting Miniatures Figures Made Quick And Easy
Painting a Wolfen Varghar for Confrontation
This won't be much of a step by step, more of a discussion.
I really like the sculpt, I don't really like the paint job. It's also somewhat of an odd sculpting job. I had originally placed it on a round Warmachine base, which fit it very well. However, the way Confrontation works, it has to go onto a square bases. However, the actual cast base overlaps the square base which requires some green stuff and results in some odd overhangs. Anyways, not my best work but table top acceptable
Anyway, the basecoats are Citadel Bleached Bone for the skin, Citadel Bestial Brown for the fur, and VMC Brassy Brass for the rings. I don't remember what color the original straps were. This all got washed with Liquitex Burnt Umber. After the wash dried, I coated the axe blade and chains with VMC Gunmetal and washed it with Liquitex Paynes Grey
The claws and teeth were basecoated Citadel Bleached Bone then washed with Devlan Mud, after which it got highlighted with several coats of white.
The other little details were picked out in a number of different colors.
The runes on the axe were a bit of an experiment. I basecoated the runes in a Citadel yellow and then used the Thrakka Green wash over it. It took 2-3 coats before I got an acceptable green color, which looks ok.
