Painting Miniatures Figures Made Quick And Easy
Painting a Tau Firewarrior for Warhammer 40K (WIP)
I painted up a quick test figure to try out a new spray paint color, and it goes together pretty fast. I couldn't find the same lighter color as I used for the Hammerhead and Broadside but without the texture and finally decided that I would keep the darker tan as a contrast. Also, for troops, the really light color didn't seem as appropriate.
Also, I purchased these figures second hand, so the figures were already assembled and some were partially painted. There was only minor breakage.
Step-by-Step
- Clean and assemble the model.
- Prime Rustoleum Camouflage Khaki.
- Wash entire figure with Liquitex Raw Umber mixed with some water and Liquitex Glaze Medium (you can use Vallejo too).
- Basecoat undersuit in Citadel Snot Green.
- Wash undersuit and pulse rifle with Citadel Badab Black wash. You'll need to apply 3 or so coats to the pulse rifle to give it the deep color I got.
- Edge the armor plates with some mixed Skull White and Bleached Bone.
- Base.
Post Mortem
I've really only done the basecoats and based the figure. He's table top ready now, but I really do want to pick out the sept colors as well as the badge on the shoulder pads and gun.
