Painting Miniatures Figures Made Quick And Easy
Painting Chaos Cruisers for Battlefleet Gothic
This plastic model from the Battlefleet Gothic set is a fairly easy figure to paint and assemble. There is a ton of detail that takes washes nicely and it really only uses a couple of basic colors.
Step-by-Step
- Clean and assemble the model.
- Prime model Blood Angel Red and the base black
- Basecoat the engine sections and the weapons with VMC Gunmetal. You don't really see any weapons on this model as they were painted separately.
- Wash the entire ship with a mix of Liquetex Paynes Grey/Water/VMC Glaze Medium.
- Use Citadel Blood Angel Red to add some highlights back along the edges
- Pick out a couple of lights in yellow
- Add some stars to your base by putting some white paint on a large brush, then riffle your thumb across the long edge of the top so that specs of paint get splattered on the base.
- Seal.
Post Mortem
Had I done these again, I probably would have picked out some of the hull trim in VMC Brassy Brass and then washed that a little with Liquitex Burnt Umber. It would have been easy to do and would have provided a nice contrast to the red.
