Welcome to My Corner of the Internet

Who Am I?

I graduated from the Haas School of Business in 1997 and worked as a management consultant for the Mitchell Madison Group, specializing in sourcing, contact centers, and collections, and then Silver Oak Solutions (now CGI) focusing again on sourcing, development of procurement organizations, training, and e-purchasing technologies.

Currently, I work in the Strategic Sourcing team of Fireman's Fund Insurance Company, where oddly enough, I find myself in the procurement space again.

Prior to my MBA, I graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles in 1989, then served as a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army until 1995. My main hobbies are gaming-related: on-line computer games and miniatures. I've written extensive guides and how-to's for both of these hobbies.

I've also been teaching for a long time and consider it a hobby for lack of a better description. I believe that if I know "how to", then I can teach someone else to do it too. My latest endeavour has been the conversion of Excel tips I had written for Fireman's Fund and previous employers into a single web site with simpler explanations, sample files, and extensive cross indexing.

In addition to my two little boys, I spend a considerable amount of time puttering around the house and helping out with my wife's dental practice.
